Only two auctions left in 2022!

With the holidays upon us, Liquid Auctions will look a little bit different. Instead of the usual seven day auctions, both of our remaining auctions will last for 10 days. The first of the two starts Monday, 11/28. Keep your eyes peeled for the preview of some of the cards headed your way. And now on with the HITS…

The Forecast calls for cards

A recent report says that the sports card market is expected to grow by $6.71 billion between 2022 and 2026. A few reasons for this include the addition of Bitcoin as a way to purchase cards online, increased partnerships between players and vendors, and a boost in social media marketing across the industry. None of these things should be a surprise if you’ve been reading ALT Hits, or just following the industry over the last couple of years. And while forecasts can’t always be 100% counted on, this is very good news for anyone who started collecting before the boom.

Has Panini been subtly, or accidentally revealing which boxes of Crown Royale have Kaboom! cards in them? Some people seem to think so.

A new card set honoring the 30th anniversary of Magic: The Gathering hits stores next year. 60 cards for the low price of $999. Fans are not happy.

Upper Deck has announced a trading card series based on Mortal Kombat 11. Fight for them wherever you buy cards.

Another new set from Upper Deck is a TCG based on the hit Amazon series The Boys, which itself is based on a comic book.

A new startup called Mercury is hoping to get people who are fans of college sports teams, but not yet fans of NFTs, to join their new venture that combines the best of both worlds.

Another new startup is selling digital collectibles based on entertainment properties. First up, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
