Buy Now, Pay with Future Consignments

In case you missed it, we introduced a new way to make buying on Alt even more flexible: now you can use a cash advance from upcoming consignments to help pay for auction wins.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade your collection or score a grail, this program lets you tap into the value of cards you plan to consign—before they even sell.

How It Works

Eligible customers can apply the cash advance from their future consignment directly toward the cost of a recent auction purchase. If the cash advance doesn't cover the full amount, you can pay the remaining balance through our standard process.

Who’s Eligible?

To participate, your consignment must meet these criteria:

• Cards must be graded or factory sealed
  Accepted grading companies include:
  • PSA
  • BGS
  • SGC
  • CGC
• Single-card consignments must be valued at $250 or more
• If your consignment only covers part of the purchase, the remaining balance must be paid within the standard 14-day auction window

Step-by-Step

1. Reach Out to our Alt Experts
   Contact the Alt Expert team within 5 days of your auction ending to initiate the process through email (support@alt.xyz) or the chat icon in the Alt app.

2. Get a Quote
   The Sales team will evaluate your cards and send you a batch quote, just like a normal consignment.
   ‍
3. Approve & Send
   Once you approve the offer, you’ll receive a cash advance amount. Ship your consigned cards to the Alt Vault within 14 days.

4. Settle the Remaining Balance
   If your advance doesn’t cover the full purchase, CX will add a charge to your account for the difference. You’ll need to pay that off before we can complete the transaction.

5. Receive Your Cards
   Once your cards are in and your balance is paid, we’ll transfer your auction winnings to your Alt account.

⚠️ Important: If all steps aren’t completed within 14 days of the auction ending, the purchased cards will be re-listed.

Example

You win a card for $20,000. You consign a group of graded cards and are offered a $10,000 cash advance.

• Alt Experts create a $10,000 charge for the remaining balance.
• Once your consigned cards are received and the $10,000 charge is paid, your new purchase is released.

FAQ

Q: Will Alt pay for the auction item in full before the consigned cards are sold?
A: No. The item is not paid out to the seller until the full balance is received—both the cash advance and the remaining charge.

Q: What if the buyer fails to send the consignment or pay the balance?
A: While rare, if a customer defaults after partial payment, we may charge a 5% non-payment fee to reduce risk. The auction item will be re-listed, and the seller of the original item will be paid after it resells.
