The Brock Purdy Black Finite Prizm 1/1 is live in Alt's Liquid Auctions!

This is a modern football masterpiece. The 2022 Panini Prizm Brock Purdy Black Finite Rookie 1/1 is officially open for bidding in Alt’s Liquid Auctions! The auction began this week on January 4th, and ends Thursday, January 18th.

Steve Garman, a long-time 49ers fan and U.S. Air Force member, pulled the card after purchasing a single $41 pack of Prizm football last spring in a live break. He was allowed to choose any specific pack from a freshly opened 12-box case, and he hit it big. After holding the card for ten straight months, Steve submitted the card for grading with PSA and it received a gem mint PSA 10 designation.

In our interview with Steve, he describes his initial emotions: “I think my first reaction was frankly shock, pure shock…you don’t see a Black Finite very often period. Let alone a rookie QB.”

Black Finite 1/1 Prizm rookies are extremely sought after in the football card market. Debuting in the initial 2012 Prizm football release, Black Finites are the longest-running 1/1 Prizm parallel. In fact, it’s the very first licensed and pack-pulled 1/1 parallel among any sport in Prizm history.

Since 2012, overall production of Prizm products has increased dramatically due to the brand’s widespread popularity. This expansion has only heightened the allure of Black Finite 1/1s within the hobby. For any given modern football player, this card represents the pinnacle of collecting.

Given their scarcity, public sales of true Black Finite 1/1 rookies are few and far between. The Justin Fields BGS 8.5 sold for $90,000 in November 2022 and the Jalen Hurts BGS 9.5 sold for $144,000 just a month later. While less desirable than the standard base parallel, autographed versions of the Black Finite have also historically performed very well at auction – both the Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert autographs sold publicly this past year for $312,000 and $162,000 respectively.

The storybook beginning to Brock Purdy’s career is still being written. Selected as the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Mr. Irrelevant is now an MVP contender, leading the league in QBR and positioning the 49ers as the NFC’s #1 seed. Currently, San Francisco holds the best odds to win the Super Bowl. Purdy’s meteoric rise on the field can clearly be tracked in the performance of his card market, as his cards have gained value and popularity with his success.

As far as the type of person Steve hopes to buy the card? “It would be somebody who gets the opportunity to hold it for a long time…I got the joy of holding it while Purdy worked his way to becoming one of the top QBs in the NFL, I’d love for somebody to be able to have that card and understand how it feels and what it means through the rest of his career.”

The auction ends Thursday, January 18th and this 1/1 Black Finite Prizm of Brock Purdy, alongside hundreds of other cards can be bid on here.
